I don’t consider myself a real poet, but sometimes, when the mood strikes, I make an attempt. Here is one. (It’s actually a prayer, but you might have figured that out all by yourself)
Something to Say
Sacred One, Loving Friend, Listening Heart,
My soul has something to say
but the words get stuck in my mouth,
in my head.
I want to tell you how much I need you,
how I can’t make sense of things
apart from you, apart from
the Reality of You.
I want to tell you that I make a mess
of things… of life… of me
sometimes… often… a lot.
But I’m remembering that You love me
all the same
all the time.
And I want to tell you that I’m learning
that You are enough
real, present,
available
even now. Especially now.
And I want to tell You that I’m grateful
for You, for life, for others,
for unexpected moments
that feel like gifts, like grace.
And mostly, just now, this moment, I just want to tell you
that
I love you.

Thank you Richard. So powerful and beautiful. I am putting a copy of it in my prayer journal.
